history of music video
Since Queen released the first ever music video the way music is listened to has changed. Due to music video's people not only listen to music they see it as well, before music video's it was very much to so based on the artist and lyrics, now its more focused on the narrative of music video's and the story they tell.
in the 1970's to the 1990's music videos were very much based on focusing mainly on the artist and performance and had no narrative in them. as the years have gone on technogoly has developed making it easier to make music video of better equality and in much more detail, so much more recently music video's have increased narrative and much less performance. narrative draws attention to the audience watching the music video's especially now as with all the new technology music video producers are able to make more complicated video's and edits etc. i think that personally the most inspirational music video's are the older ones for example Sinead o'connor because videos like this one attract a massive audience but do not have a lot of narrative but its the lyrics, meaning and performance that make the music video a classic inspirational video.
